"And still soundlessly singing, still with that trembling smile, Miss Brill prepared to listen."-- Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield
This is a bit of an odd story. Most of it is spent with this women sitting on what I think is a bench watching people. She mostly criticizes their clothing and tries to listen to conversations. She is definitely creepy, but this is something we all do to a lesser degree. Every Sunday she goes to the same spot to observe people. In the same way, we go to the mall or Walmart and watch the people there. We move on and do not dwell on it like Miss Brill does though. She takes people-watching to the extreme and tries so hard to look good and fit in. She tries so hard in fact, a young couple criticizes her instead of the other way around. She takes in way to personally and goes home to put her fur away likely forever. One cannot be critical of others without expecting the same kind of treatment in return.
